6th Engineer Regiment (France)

6th Engineers Regiment (6e régiment du génie, 6e RG), is a French engineer regiment created under the French Third Republic in 1894. Its garrison is in Angers, where it has been located since 1946.
From 1945-1954 the regiment participated in the French Far East Expeditionary Corps during the First Indochina War.
The regiment was part of the 4th Armoured Division from 1977 to 1984. After the 4th Armoured Division was disbanded in 1984, the regiment was reassigned to the III Corps.
From 1993, it was part of the 9th Marine Infantry Division (9e DIMa), which became the 9th Light Armoured Marine Brigade (9e BLBMa) after 1996.
